Filipino Ministries

HISTORY

It was one of those Sundays when we get together to inquire on how each other is doing when we thought of having a Filipino Ministry. We started on that same day but finding a place to meet was difficult as most Filipino groups have their respective claim on different areas in Central and Admiralty for their hang out. After quite through a struggle for a permanent dwelling, we ended up at the seafront behind the Convention center. We found a shade and there we had our first gathering. We met on the same place again on the following Sundays. In our meetings, we were praying that God would give us a meeting place where we will be kept away from distraction.

God as faithful as He is made a way to answer that prayer when Ellen Ancho met Daphne Kuok at the Braden’s house for a prayer gathering for the Filipino Ministry. Soon we found ourselves meeting in YMCA, in houses of some members, a room in Convention Center and finally in our very own Ministry Center.

After a year, the Island ECC (formerly ECC) Filipino ministry had experienced God moving and caring for us. Despite its youth, the ministry has withered the departure of sisters going home for good and had been replaced by ladies who are passionate in their relationship with Christ. We have experienced God being in control in the spiritual growth of our sisters and the expansion of the ministry. Members were swapping assigned tasks during as they wanted to find out what other gifts God has given them that could be used for the building of His body.

We have committed ourselves to earnestly seek God’s will for the ministry and are excitedly looking forward to how God will move the Filipino Ministry.

MISSION

To preach Christ among the Filipino overseas workers in Hong Kong…to win the lost at any cost.

VALUES

Our position in Christ is far more important than “who we are” in the strata of life in Hong Kong.

Our service is our act of worship to God.

Our lives are living testimonies of God.

VISION

The ECC Filipino Ministry will grow more spiritually and numerically, through:

Worship — Cultivating a deeper intimacy with God through prayer and worship.

Nurture — Digging into His Word deeper, thus, desire to KNOW God more through His Word.
Equipping, mentoring, and empowering the members of the body.

Community — Building community within the body (fellowship) and outside the body (social service).

Outreach — Extending our hands and hearts to people outside Islande ECC through sharing the love of Christ.
