Lets's face it... as you look at the modern day church today, the programs and the activities done often seem more like things you would do on a cruise ship, then in a church. It is easy to lose focus on why the church really exists.
It is easy for people to start acting more like consumers then part of the body of Christ.
At Island church we are keenly aware of this, that is why we keep the purpose (vision and mission) of the church always at the forefront of everything we do.
Our programs are meerly a means(form) to the end(function) of our church... the function being reaching people who do not know Jesus Christ and developing Christians into fully functional followers of Christ.
We like to think of our church more as a "Carrier Task Force", with each ministry representing a different ship in the battle group... each ministry(ship) carrying out it's specific and unique purpose to reach people in a lost world desperate to know Jesus Christ.
